Distance travelled : 74 km
Time taken : 4.15 hours
Wow...it's Day 18 of our tour already! We have actually completed the first half of West Malaysia and did about 1196 km!! Yay...now we only have another 1500km more to go!!
We said our goodbyes to Jenny and left around 10.30am. We were heading out to Johor this morning and didn't have a clue of how to get there! After asking the kind security guard, we had some directions :o) We were heading towards Woodlands....
After cycling for about an hour, we passed by Bukit Timah road and there was a bike shop! We couldn't resist and so we stopped to have a look at this nice bike shop :o) They were dealing with Specialized bikes. It was amazing to see how different bike shops were in Singapore and in Malaysia. Anyway, after munching some snacks, we were on our bikes again towards Woodlands.
At one point, we weren't too sure of the directions, we stopped by a petrol station for reconfirmation and we met one of the friendliest Singaporean ever! Mr. Victor Chee who is the owner of two petrol stations side by side.
He offered us some sandwiches and cold drinks for our trip, without even knowing us! What a guy! I remembered he asked us how did we survive?? Didn't we have to work?? We told him that a lot of people often don't take time to stop and smell the roses and he agreed wholeheartedly. He said that everybody is just so concerned about making money that they forget what is life all about! He said that he wants to do a bike tour across Europe some day soon! Well, I do hope he will fulfill that dream one day :o) He sure made a lasting impression on me!! Thanks Victor for your warm friendliness and generosity!!
It was an interesting experience riding across the Causeway! Pretty unique....we could see the obvious difference between Singapore and Johor after the crossing the border! After going through the immigration, we asked for directions on how to get to Kota Tinggi. Think we had about 40km to go from Johor Bahru.
What we didn't know was it was going to be rolling hills all the way! Never mind, it was good practise for our future rides ahead hehehe....
When we finally reached Kota Tinggi, we were pretty exhausted and in much need of a shower and good food! That night, we walked around the town and took some pictures of the clock tower :o)
Two little buddhas chilling out at our hotel??
(Trust Mak to find unique pictures like this!! :o))
